Playoff Picture: Final seeding for the 2025 Empire 8 Conference Tournament is still yet to be determined. Utica currently sits in the sixth seed after gaining a point against Brockport on Saturday. Utica can finish as high as fourth and as low as seventh, with the fourth seed being the last home quarterfinal match to be determined. In order for the Pioneers to host a quarterfinal matchup, Utica would need to win over Keuka on Wednesday, and both SUNY Geneseo and Hartwick would have to lose both of their contests on Wednesday. Geneseo is set to square off against Brockport, who have clinched the regular season title, and Hartwick is taking on Russell Sage.
Record Breaker: After Saturday's contest,
Samantha Kogut (North Adams, MA/Drury) has etched herself in the Pioneer record books by becoming the program's newest Ironwoman, after setting new program records in games played (72), games started (72), as well as building off of her minutes record that she broke earlier this season.
Defensive Player of the Week: Hannah Pcola (Cassville, NY/Mount Markham) posted her fifth clean sheet of the season in the Pioneers' 0-0 draw with SUNY Brockport. Brockport's high powered offense that had averaged just under 15 shot attempts per game was held to just four shots on goal, all of which were saved by Pcola. The senior goalkeeper is now one of two goalkeepers in the conference that Brockport has not managed to score on. This is her third weekly honor of the season.
