Week in Review: The Pioneers battled with the then-#11-ranked Oswego State Lakers in a home-and-home series, splitting the series with each team taking the game on their home ice. Oswego took game one 3-0 before Utica struck back 1-0 the following night. Maya Jerome (Belleville, MI/) scored the lone goal of the contest, and the only Pioneer goal so far this season. The Pioneers now sit at 1-2 overall this season, with each of their three games coming against ranked opponents.

"She(ahan)'s Our Girl": The real highlight of last week, and this season as a whole, has been the play of freshman goaltender Katherine Sheahan (Oak Lawn, IL). Sheahan has played the entirety of each of Utica's three games, playing to a 1.33 goals allowed average and a .962 save percentage. Over the first two games, Sheahan saved 62 of 66 total shots, but the scoreless offense led to a 0-2 record. In the team's regular-season home opener, Sheahan took over, making 40 saves to secure both her first shutout and first win in her collegiate career. For her efforts, Sheahan was named the "Goalie of the Week" for both the UCHC and Empire 8 conferences.

Hawk's Eye View: Hilbert opened its regular season with two home games against Keene State. The Hawks dropped both games, falling 8-1 in game one and losing game two by a score of 1-0. Sophomore Amelia Murphy has scored the lone Hilbert goal so far this season, with freshman Victoria Battaglia recording an assist. Tia Card and Brook Thompson have each played one game in net for the Hawks. Card played in the first game, allowing eight goals across the 56 shots she faced for a .875 save percentage. Thompson followed up with a career performance, saving all but one of the 63 shots that came her way.

Up Next: After the Hilbert games, Utica will again look ahead to a two-game series on Friday and Saturday. The next series will be a home-and-home with #13/14 Elmira College. On Friday, November 21st, the Soaring Eagles will play host, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 pm. The following day, Saturday the 22nd, the teams will come to Utica for a 3:00 pm rematch.
