Men’s Wrestling Set To Usher in Winter Break With Home Dual Meet

UTICA, NY - Utica University's men's wrestling team is set to wrap up its early-season schedule with a home dual meet against Keystone College. The meet, scheduled for Friday, December 12th at 6:00 pm, will be the first of just two meets this season that the Pioneers will host. Utica will next return to action in over a month, in a road dual meet with Penn State-Altoona.

Revisiting RIT: Utica enters Friday's dual coming off a full day of competition at the RIT Invitational, where the Pioneers collected several strong individual performances across 15 weight entries. The team was led by standout runs from Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) and Matt Bonato (Syracuse, NY/Liverpool), as Richardson posted three consecutive wins at 174 pounds, one by fall, a sudden-victory decision, and a major decision, while Bonato added a pair of bonus-point victories at 149. Additional wins came from Billy Beseth (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt) at 141, Marco Milankovic (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) at 133, Lukas Charles (Nyack, NY/Nyack) at heavyweight, and Nuallan King (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl Area High School) at 197, giving the lineup balanced production across multiple divisions.

Early Season Standouts: Through the opening portion of the season, Utica has seen several wrestlers emerge with strong individual performances across duals and tournament action. Richardson has been one of the Pioneers' most consistent contributors, highlighted by his Empire 8 Wrestler of the Week honor and multi-win runs at both the Pitt-Bradford Quad and RIT Invitational, where he collected a mix of falls, major decisions, and sudden-victory wins. Bonato has likewise provided a steady presence at 149 pounds, earning a sixth-place finish at the New York State Collegiate Championship and adding multiple bonus-point victories throughout the early schedule. Lower in the lineup, Rian Kirker (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) and Caden Beecher (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) have each delivered key wins at 133 and 125, while Sean Aldrich (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) opened his year with a pair of pins at the state meet to establish early momentum. In the upper weights, King and Charles have added reliable production with falls and decisive victories of their own.

Up Next: The Pioneers will take a month off ahead of their next event. On Saturday, January 17th, Utica will travel to Altoona, Pennsylvania, to take on Penn State-Altoona in a dual meet. Action is set to begin at 10:00 am.
