HIRAM, OH - Utica University's women's wrestling team closed out its fall semester schedule at the Terrier Round Robin, hosted by Hiram College. The Pioneers competed across seven weight classes in a round-robin format, facing multiple opponents throughout the evening.
Utica's top finishes came in the upper weights. At 180 pounds,
Evelyn Enriquez (Mastic Beach, NY/Miller Place) earned a win by fall in an all-Utica bout, pinning
Paityn Billard (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) in 0:25 after opening the night with contested matches against Hiram and Georgetown. At 207,
Natalie Enriquez (Mastic Beach, NY/William Floyd) broke through with a quick pin of Carthage's Sara Willis in 0:30, providing one of Utica's fastest finishes of the night. At 138,
Jackie Mace (Montour Falls, NY/Odessa-Montour) put together a pair of strong results late in her slate, earning a 10-8 decision over Brooke Walsh (Alfred State) before closing with a win by fall over Basil Kiracofe (Carthage) in 5:11.
Across the rest of the lineup, the Pioneers continued to gain valuable match experience against a deep field that included Alfred State, Mount Union, York (Pa.), Indiana Tech, Carthage, and more. Several bouts ended via default across the night, but Utica's most impactful scoring came from the falls and Mace's decision as the team wrapped up its final event of the fall semester.
The squad will return to action quickly in the new year. On January 4th, the Pioneers will travel to Buffalo State's Sports Arena for a tri-meet with Buffalo State and Ithaca College. Action is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
