ROCHESTER, NY - The Utica University women's indoor track and field team completed day one of the DIII Elite Meet hosted by Nazareth University on Friday afternoon.
In the first round of the 60m hurdles, Amelia Petersen (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) was the top Pioneer finisher with a time of 9.85, falling into 12th place and just missing tomorrow's final round. Olivia Jensen (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) was the second fastest Pioneer in the event, clocking a time of 10.04. Isabella Frick (Longmeadow, MA/Longmeadow) rounded out the Pioneers in the event with a time of 10.12.
In the first round of the 60m dash, Nyasia Marsh (Westmoreland, NY/Westmoreland) and Shiann Wiliams each continued their dominance, locking up fourth and seventh place, respectively. Marsh clocked in with a time of 8.08, while Williams ran an 8.14. Both will move on to tomorrow's final in the event.
In the distance medley relay, the team of Catherine Manna (Whitesboro, NY/whitesboro), Williams, Madalyn Haaf (Pompey, NY/Fabius-Pompey), and Marlo Townsend (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) took home fifth place with a time of 13:12.38.
In the weight throw, Riley King (Oswego, NY/Oswego) took home another top ten finish with a 14.97m toss to lock up sixth place.
In the long jump, Nora Devitt (Beverly, MA/Beverly) locked up sixth place in the event with a 5.19m leap. Zeniyah Gholson (Monticello, NY/Monticello) notched a 5.00m leap to finish just outside the top 15.
Utica will compete in the second day of the DIII Elite Meet tomorrow, Saturday, February 15. Start time in Rochester, NY is set for 10am.
