Men's Wrestling Readies For Scranton Duals

UTICA, NY - The Utica University men's wrestling team heads to Scranton University for the Scranton Duals on Saturday, February 8th.

John Long Center: The dual meet will take place at the John Long Center on the campus of Scranton.
 
Event Schedule: The Pioneers are set to start the Scranton Duals against Lackawanna College at 11 a.m. Followed by the University of Scranton at 11:30 a.m., Kings College at 2:30 p.m., Hunter College at 4 p.m. and The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford at 5:30 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: The Pioneers last competed at the SUNYAC Championships hosted by Cortland on January 18th. Trevor Cortright (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) won the 133lb weight class by going 4-0 and only allowing four points against him in four matches. Cortright is the first-ever conference champion in the program's two years of existence.
 
James Post (Ilion, NY/Ilion) defeated Phillip Venne of Oneonta State by decision, recording two takedowns in his 6-1 victory. Hunter Morton (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Hills) notched a 10-0 major decision over Dom Parente of SUNY Brockport. Morton registered one takedown, one near fall, and one reversal. Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain) defeated Will Lotocky of Suny Brockport 8-1 by decision.
 
Last Time at Scranton: Last season, the Pioneers competed in the Quad-Meet at Scranton University, facing the University of Scranton, Bergen Community College, and Hunter College. Utica fell to Scranton 44-9, but ended the day with a 27-26 win over Bergen Community College and a 35-12 win over Hunter College. The team's wins came from Eddy Corporan (Poughkeepsie, NY/Roy C Ketcham), Billy Beseth (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-DeWitt), Marco Milankovic (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park), Seth Richardson (Fort Plain, NY/Fort Plain), Mikael Neris (Medford, NY/Bellport), Post, and Cortright.
 
Up Next: The team will travel to Elmira College on Thursday, February 13th at 6 p.m. for the Elmira Duals.
