Damien Call (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) of the Utica University men's basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region III Third Team as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were each contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 789 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to a number of SIDs, as well as
D3hoops.com staff and contributors, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.
Damien Call (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) has garnered All-Region III Third Team honors after another dominant season. Call averaged 13.9 points per game for Utica this season, leading the team in shooting from the floor, converting over 53 percent of the time. Call was also an extraordinary rebounder, averaging over 7.4 rebounds per game. The Rome, NY native was able to spread the wealth as well, dishing out a team high 97 assists. This season, Call became the 19th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000 career point milestone.
