Men's Lacrosse Falls to Oneonta in Non-Conference Play

UTICA, NY - Men's Lacrosse drops non-conference matchup 24-10 against Oneonta State on Thursday afternoon. Ryan Considine (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) led Utica with four goals and has a point in all five games this season.
 
Point production: Considine (four goals), Jack LaFayette (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) (two goals), Noah Erickson (Auburn, NY/Auburn) (two assists), Landen Frey (Accord, NY/Rondout Valley) (one assist), Vincent Bernardo (Ossining, NY/Ossining) (one assist), Ryan Hollenbeck (Baldwinsville, NY/Charles W. Baker) (one assist), Michael Reid (Tully, NY/Tully) (one goal), Quinn Orisni (one goal), Hayden Sachel (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (one goal) and Lucas Donahue (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills Ballston Lake) (one goal).
 
LaFayette, Reid and Sachel scored their first goals of the season while Reid and Lafayette scored their first collegiate goals.

Andrew Sacco (New Haven, CT/North Haven) led Utica with three caused turnovers.
 
All three goalies for Utica saw time between the pipes. Patrick Oswald (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) started the first half and made three saves. Jake Bowen (Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) played 26:22 of the second half and made four saves. Owen Mix (Henrietta, NY/Rush Henrietta) finished the game with one save.
 
Erickson is on a three-game point streak, tallying three goals and four assists.  Donahue has a goal in four consecutive games. Hollenbeck is on a three-game streak with two goals and one assist and Mecca has at least two ground balls in every game this season.
 
Both teams combined for 11 shots on goal in the first quarter, eight for Oneonta and three for Utica. The Red Dragons scored six goals in the quarter compared to Utica's two. LaFayette and Consdine scored the two goals for the Pioneers.
 
Oneonta exploded for nine goals in the second quarter compared to Utica's two, taking a 13-4 lead into halftime. Reid and Consdine were each responsible for a goal in the second. Utica limited their turnovers in the second quarter, having one compared to Oneonta's five.
 
Utica answered back in the third quarter, scoring four goals from Donahue, Sachel, Considine and LaFayette.
 
Both teams notched two goals in the fourth quarter.
