Graff and Marra Set for NCGA Championships

UTICA, NY - The Utica University gymnastics team had two Pioneers qualify for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship. The meet will be held by Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota at 2pm.
 
Ticket Information: Tickets will be cash-only and sold at the main entryway doors in the Lund Center. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for children (ages 4-17) and students with ID, and free for children under the age of three.

Freshman Prodigy: Emmy Graff (Boulder, CO/Connections) is one of two Pioneers to qualify for nationals this season. Graff has broken the school all-around record three different times this season. Consistently, she has impressed fans and has made herself out to be a game-changer for the Pioneers. Her highest all-around score was at a dual meet with SUNY Cortland where she scored a 38.625.At this same meet she also performed her best bars routine, achieving a score of 9.750. In the vault event, her highest score of the season was a 9.675 at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association East Regional. She has maintained a steady performance in the beam event, scoring a 9.650 three different times throughout the season. The top floor performance was achieved right at home in Utica during the Utica Quad meet scoring a 9.775.
 
Sophomore Standout: Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) is another Pioneer that qualified for nationals this weekend. She has the opportunity to repeat in the all-around with her impressive All American status. Throughout the season she has proved herself time and time again as a star on the team since she has the program record for floor exercise. At numerous meets she has achieved an impressive 9.525 in the vault event. During the Utica Quad meet, Marra reached her highest score of 8.900 in the uneven bars. At the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association East Regional scored a 9.700 in the beam event and a 9.850 in the floor exercise. Her highest all-around score was at home at the Utica Quad meet where she scored a 37.775.
 
The Field: This meet will have athletes competing from 16 different universities. The six schools competing as a team are UW-Oshkosh, SUNY Brockport, UW-La Crosse, SUNY Cortland, UW-Whitewater, and Rhode Island College. Individuals will be competing from UW-Stout, Ithaca College, Winona State University, Greenville University, UW-Eau Claire, Ursinus College, Simpson College, Springfield College, and Gustavus Adolphus College.
