BROCKPORT, NY – The Utica University gymnastics team posted a total team score of 187.850 at the NCGA East Regional on Saturday, finishing in sixth place. Brockport took home the regional title with a score of 192.525, followed by Cortland (192.050) and Ithaca (191.675) in second and third place, respectively.
As a team, Utica scored 47.300 on vault to place sixth in the event. On the uneven bars, the team recorded a 44.300 to finish seventh. The Pioneers shined on the balance beam with a 47.975, ranking fourth, and posted a strong 48.275 on the floor exercise to take fifth place in the event.
In the all-around competition, Emmy Graff (Boulder, CO/Connections) took second place with a combined score of 38.125. Graff's event performances included a 9.675 on vault, 9.050 on bars, 9.650 on beam, and 9.750 on floor. Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) also placed in the top six, finishing sixth overall with a total score of 37.400.
On vault, Graff was Utica's top finisher, tying for sixth place with a score of 9.675. Marra followed with a 9.500, while Haley Miller (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) scored a 9.475. Madison Villani (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) and Jenna DiPalo (Port Jefferson Station, NY/Comsewogue) added scores of 9.375 and 9.275, respectively.
On the uneven bars, Kaitlyn Vaz (Salem, OR/Baker Early College) led the Pioneers with a 9.450, finishing 12th overall. Alyssa Langston (Pearland, TX/Pearland) recorded an 8.475, while Graff added a 9.050. Marra scored an 8.350, and Christina Troche (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) rounded out the lineup with an 8.175.
On the balance beam, Marra led Utica with a 9.700, tying for 13th place. Langston also delivered a standout performance with a 9.725 to tie for 11th. Graff earned a 9.650, while Abigail Walters (Lake Grove, NY/The Stony Brook School) posted a 9.600. DiPalo scored 9.300.
In the floor exercise, Marra and Graff both turned in impressive routines, with Marra scoring a 9.850 to tie for second place and Graff earning a 9.750 to tie for 10th. Emily Plone (Hudson, OH/Hudson) contributed a 9.625, and Olivia Rosen (Massapequa, NY/Plainedge) added a 9.600. Adisson Ferri (Gillbertsville, PA/Boyertown) scored 9.450.
Qualified athletes will now travel to the NCGA National Championship on March 21. Start time is yet to be determined.
