UTICA, NY - Three-time Empire 8 Champion and Utica men's basketball great
Damien Call (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) will be taking his talents to the next level this summer after joining the Herkimer Originals, a professional team which plays in the ABA (American Basketball Association.

Call will be immediately thrust into the national spotlight, as the Originals are slated to compete in the first round of The Basketball Tournament (TBT) later tonight against top-seeded Boeheim's Army. That first round matchup will tip-off at 6:00 PM at Onondaga Community College's SRC Arena.

Call joins a team of local standouts, including Empire 8 Tournament Finalist LeMarqus Merchant of SUNY Poly. The Originals will battle some highly-touted Syracuse alumni, with Boeheim's Army bringing a star-studded roster that contains the likes of Buddy Boeheim, Jimmy Boeheim, Rakeem Christmas, Elijah Hughes, Chris McCullough and Malachi Richardson. Also rostered are other NCAA greats like Jacob Gilyard (Richmond, A-10 Champion), and Frank Mason III (Kansas, Consensus National Player of the Year).
