SYRACUSE, NY – Freshman Claire Draper (Watertown, NY/Watertown) has been selected the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Rookie of the Week. The honors come following Draper's debut event with Utica women's golf.
 
The NWGC announced the honor from its office in Syracuse, N.Y., on Tuesday, September 23rd, for events held September 15-21.
 
Draper was excellent in her collegiate debut during the SUNY Poly Invitational on September 8th, hosted at nearby Teugega Country Club. She finished third overall with a +13 on the par-73, 5550-yard course. She ended just two strokes behind the runner-up. St. Lawrence golfer Sadie Cumming won the individual scoring by a 10-stroke lead.
 
Draper's round saw two birdies, including staying below par through the first three holes of the day.

Draper and the rest of Utica's men's and women's golf teams will next take to the fairways tomorrow, September 24th, when they participate in the Keuka College Fall Invitational. The teams are expected to begin play at 9:30 am at Lakeside Country Club in Penn Yan, NY.
