Last Time Out: The team used a 51 point second half surge to complete its comeback win over Alfred University by a score of 67-62 on Saturday afternoon. Leading the way for the Pioneers was Dayion Thompson (Beacon, NY/Kimball Union Academy) who managed 16 points (7-15FG, 2-6 3pt), followed by Jordan Cain (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) with 15 points (3-9 FG, 9-12 FT), and Keyaton Parks (Albany, NY/Green Tech High Charter) with 12 points (4-7 FG, 4-9 FT). Parks paced the rebounding efforts for the Pioneers with 10 on the afternoon, while Thompson managed to haul in seven. Defensively, Griffin Barasa (Clearwater, FL/Calvary Christian) and Cain each swiped three steals, while Zyon Lord (Bronx, NY/Salisbury School) contributed the team's only block.

Day's Time: Dayion Thompson (Beacon, NY/Kimball Union Academy) delivered a strong all-around week for the Pioneers, averaging 17 points and six rebounds per game across three contests. Thompson scored in double figures in all three outings, highlighted by an 18-point performance against Russell Sage before adding 17 points at Houghton and 16 points on the road at Alfred.  Thompson played a key role in helping power the Pioneers' scoring surge during a 51-point comeback victory over Alfred, providing timely buckets and steady presence as Utica erased a large deficit. He shot an efficient .462 from the field on the week while consistently attacking the rim, going 11-for-13 (.846) from the free-throw line. Thompson also made an impact beyond the scoring column, totaling five assists, five steals, and 18 total rebounds.

Scouting Hartwick: The Hartwick Hawks enter the matchup with a 6–6 overall record and are still searching for their first conference win at 0–3 in league play. Hartwick averages 76.8 points per game but has been outscored by opponents on the season, allowing 79.4 points per contest. The Hawks rely heavily on perimeter shooting, attempting nearly 28 three-pointers per game and knocking them down at a .346 clip, while averaging 9.7 made threes per outing. Offensively, Hartwick is led by Robby Lucas, who averages a team-high 12.7 points per game while logging heavy minutes and serving as a primary playmaker. Mike Gitz is the Hawks' top shooting threat, averaging 12.6 points per game and shooting 40.0 percent from three-point range, while also converting all of his free-throw attempts on the season. Kesean Leonard adds balance at 9.5 points per game, contributing as both a scorer and facilitator in the half court. Defensively, Hartwick looks to generate offense through ball movement and rebounding, averaging 13.8 assists per game and pulling down 36.8 rebounds per contest. However, turnover margin has been a challenge, as the Hawks commit over 14 turnovers per game and have struggled to close games late, being outscored by opponents in the second half.

Breaking Down Brockport: The SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles enter the contest with a 5–7 overall record and a 1–2 mark in conference play. Brockport averages 76.4 points per game but has been narrowly outscored on the season, allowing 78.3 points per contest. The Golden Eagles play at an aggressive pace, forcing turnovers at a high rate and averaging 12.2 steals per game, one of their most defining team strengths. Offensively, Brockport is led by Zachary Rice, who averages a team-high 13.4 points per game while contributing on both ends of the floor. Jacob Oka adds 11.9 points per game and serves as a primary interior presence, pulling down a team leading 5.4 rebounds per contest. On the wing, Camron Dyer provides scoring balance at 11.1 points per game while shooting better than 42 percent from the three point range and contributing defensively with a team leading 10 blocks and 20 total steals. Defensively, Brockport looks to speed opponents up, through transition opportunities. The Golden Eagles average 14.5 assists per game and hold a positive turnover margin, but rebounding has been a challenge, as they are being out-rebounded by nearly three boards per game.

A Look at Geneseo: The SUNY Geneseo Knights enter the matchup with a 6–5 overall record and a 2–1 mark in conference play, posting a +2.3 scoring margin while averaging 76.0 points per game. Geneseo is an efficient offensive group, shooting .467 from the field as a team, and they consistently get to the free-throw line, averaging 15.7 made free throws per contest. Offensively, the Knights are led by Robert Pericolosi, who paces the team at 16.2 points per game while adding 7.6 rebounds per contest and shooting better than 50 percent from the floor. Josh Garelle provides a strong secondary scoring option at 15.3 points per game, attacking the rim efficiently and contributing 6.7 rebounds per outing. On the perimeter, Trevor Hofer is Geneseo's primary shooting threat, averaging 10.5 points per game and knocking down better than 40 percent of his attempts from three-point range. Defensively, Geneseo applies steady pressure, averaging 8.0 steals per game and forcing nearly two more turnovers per game than they commit. While rebounding margins are close to even, the Knights have shown the ability to close games, outscoring opponents in the second half and picking up recent conference wins over Keuka and St. John Fisher.

Up Next: The team remains home to take on the Keuka College Wolves. Tip off from Miga Court inside the Clark Athletic Center on Friday, January 23 is set for 7:30pm.
