UTICA, NY - After concluding its fall golf events at the beginning of last week, the Empire 8 has now announced its All-Conference selections for the women's teams. Utica had two golfers recognized by the conference: sophomore
Claire Draper (Watertown, NY/Watertown) on the Second Team and senior
Jordan Dorrity (Constableville, NY/South Lewis Central) on the Tomorrow's Leader Team. The Pioneers are currently in the midst of the final event of their fall schedule, the NWGC Fall Preview.
With a top-10 finish at the two-day Empire 8 Fall Invitational, hosted October 11th and 12th at the 5,689-yard, par-72 Lake Shore Yacht & Country Club, Draper earned her way to All-Conference Second Team Honors. The sophomore led Utica at the Empire 8 Fall Invitational, tying for eighth overall with a two-day score of +42. Draper opened with a 94 (+22) before improving to a 92 (+20) in the final round, finishing as the Pioneers' top individual performer across the weekend.
Dorrity was selected as Utica's representative on the Empire 8 Women's Golf Tomorrow's Leaders Team. The honor recognizes one student-athlete from each institution who has emerged as a leader in competition, in the classroom, and within the community, while consistently demonstrating honor, integrity, and strong sportsmanship. The recognition highlights Dorrity's impact beyond her results on the course, reflecting the Empire 8's emphasis on character and leadership throughout the student-athlete experience.
The Pioneers are currently playing out their final round of the fall semester. After concluding their competition in the NWGC Fall Preview today, October 20th, the team will take a break for the winter season.
