Taking the Floor: Utica's floor lineup continues to raise the bar, setting a new program record with a 48.625 performance last time out. The Pioneers showcased depth and scoring potential throughout the rotation, highlighted by
Grace Marra's (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) team-best 9.850.
Emily Plone (Hudson, OH/Hudson) and
Alisya Dorman (Killingworth, CT/Haddam Killingworth) each added 9.750 routines, while Addison Ferri (9.700) and
Christina Troche (Manalapan, NJ/Saint John Vianney) (9.575) rounded out a lineup that did not count a score below 9.575. The performance marked the highest team floor total in program history and reflects the steady upward trend the Pioneers have shown on the event in recent weeks. With multiple gymnasts consistently pushing into the mid-to-high 9.7 range, floor has quickly become one of Utica's strongest rotations heading into the stretch run.
A Look at the Quad: Cortland is coming off one of its strongest performances of the season, posting a 191.95 team score at the Empire State Collegiate Championship. The Red Dragons set a program record on floor with a 49.075, highlighted by Tessa Sutton's career-high 9.875 and multiple additional routines in the 9.8 range, showcasing impressive depth in that rotation. Vault is another strength, as Cortland has shown the ability to score in the 48.2 range, giving them balanced scoring potential across all four events. Ithaca finished with a 189.500 team score at the Empire State Championships, highlighted by a strong 48.725 on floor. Jillian Freyman and Grace Murray each posted 9.850s, with additional 9.8-level support in the lineup, making floor their most dangerous rotation. Beam (47.275) has shown mid-to-high 9.7 potential, while vault hovered in the 47.3 range, though bars (46.200) proved to be their lowest-scoring event in the meet. Springfield posted a 182.375 team score in its dual meet with Rhode Island College, with floor emerging as its top event. Stacy Taylor led the Pride with a 9.700, while Kora Donley (9.650) and Elsie Gardiner (9.625) also finished among the top performers, giving Springfield mid-9.6 scoring potential in that rotation. Beam showed competitiveness with Ava Kelley's 9.550, but bars proved to be the lowest-scoring event, with scores primarily in the 8.7–8.9 range.
Breaking Down Brockport: Brockport turned in a 192.000 team score at the Empire State Collegiate Championship, finishing third in a competitive six-team field. Floor is clearly their signature event, as the Golden Eagles delivered a season-high 49.150 behind Kiara Hockman's 9.875 and three additional 9.825 routines, with no counting score below 9.800, giving them both scoring ceiling and depth in that rotation. Vault has also been a steady event at 48.275, highlighted by Hockman's 9.775 and multiple routines in the 9.6–9.7 range. On bars (47.325) and beam (47.250), Brockport features several gymnasts capable of mid-to-high 9.6 scores, making them balanced across all four events and particularly dangerous when closing on floor.
Up Next: The Pioneers return home for the team's final regular season meet, a quad with Springfield, Rhode Island, and Ithaca on March 1. Start time on March 1 is set for 1pm from Valley Gymnastics.
