Gymnastics Readies for 2026 NCGA East Regional

UTICA, NY - The Utica University gymnastics team is set to travel to Providence, RI for the 2026 NCGA East Regional, hosted by Rhode Island College. Start time on Saturday, March 7 is set for 1pm.

Ticketing Information: For those who wish to attend, tickets will be $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children, seniors, and college students with ID, and children under 3 are free. 
 
Last Time Out: The team took third place with a combined team score of 186.550 out of four teams in the Pioneers' final home meet of the season. The Pioneers opened the afternoon on vault, combining for the team's second highest score of the afternoon, a 47.250. Leading the Pioneers was Alisya Dorman (Killingworth, CT/Haddam Killingworth), who posted a team high 9.575. On the uneven bars, the Pioneers combined for a total of 45.700, paced by Camille Lindley's (Herndon, VA/Bishop O'Connell) third top finish of the season, posting a 9.475 to win the event. Utica combined for a total of 46.000 on the balance beam, led by Grace Marra's (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) 9.700 in the event, while floor once again proved the strongest for the Pioneers, combining for a 47.600 in the final rotation. Marra continued to lead the way, posting a 9.775.
 
What's on the Line: Qualification into the NCGA National Championships is determined by regional performances and Seasonal Average Scores (SAS) indicated on Road to Nationals. 
 
The 2026 Qualification format is as follows:
Team Qualification: Six Teams
  • Top two teams from East Regional
  • Top two teams from WIAC
  • Top two remaining teams based off SAS average
All-Around Qualification: Six Gymnasts
*gymnasts on a qualified team are removed*
  • Top All-Around from East Regional
  • Top All-Around from WIAC
  • Top East SAS
  • Top WIAC SAS
  • Top two remaining overall SAS
Individual Event Qualification: 20 Gymnasts from each event
*gymnasts on a qualified team and/or qualified in the all-around are removed*
  • Top five from East Regional
  • Top five from WIAC
  • Top four remaining East SAS
  • Top four remaining WIAC SAS
  • Top two remaining overall SAS
 
Run it Back: At last season's regional, The Pioneers posted a total team score of 187.850 at the NCGA East Regional on Saturday, finishing in sixth place. Brockport took home the regional title with a score of 192.525, followed by Cortland (192.050) and Ithaca (191.675) in second and third place, respectively. As a team, Utica scored 47.300 on vault to place sixth in the event. On the uneven bars, the team recorded a 44.300 to finish seventh. The Pioneers shined on the balance beam with a 47.975, ranking fourth, and posted a strong 48.275 on the floor exercise to take fifth place in the event. In the all-around competition, Emmy Graff (Boulder, CO/Connections) took second place with a combined score of 38.125. Graff's event performances included a 9.675 on vault, 9.050 on bars, 9.650 on beam, and 9.750 on floor. Grace Marra (St. James, NY/Smithtown East) also placed in the top six, finishing sixth overall with a total score of 37.400. On vault, Graff was Utica's top finisher, tying for sixth place with a score of 9.675. On the balance beam, Marra led Utica with a 9.700, tying for 13th place. In the floor exercise, Marra and Graff both turned in impressive routines, with Marra scoring a 9.850 to tie for second place and Graff earning a 9.750 to tie for 10th. 
 
The Field: Seven teams will be competing in this season's edition of the NCGA East Regional, headlined by last season's regional champion SUNY Brockport. National Championship team participant, SUNY Cortland, who is slated to host this season's national championship, also is amongst the field as last season's regional runner-up. Ithaca, Ursinus, Springfield, and the regional host, Rhode Island College, join the Pioneers in making up highly competitive postseason action. 
 
Up Next: If qualified, gymnasts will travel to Cortland, NY on Friday, March 20 for the 2026 NCGA National Championship, hosted by SUNY Cortland. Start time is set for 2pm.
