ROCHESTER, NY - The Empire 8 Conference has announced its players of the week, for the week of September 28th, with a pair of Pioneers earning conference recognition for their standout performances.

Cora Kraft (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) - Defensive Player of the Week (Women's Soccer)

The Pioneers secured two clean sheets in conference play this week, showcasing an incredible defensive unit. Cora Kraft (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) played a vital role in anchoring the backline, playing all 180 minutes vs. Hartwick and Alfred. Kraft's leadership and composure under pressure give her side a significant advantage over opposing attacks. Kraft also registered shots on goal in both fixtures, highlighting her overall quality and eagerness to influence all aspects of play.  

Kraft and the Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, September 30 as the team hosts Keuka College. Kickoff from Laura M. Casamento Field is set for 4:00pm.

Nico Duarte (Kearny, NJ/Saint Peter's Prep) - Special Teams Player of the Week (Football)

Pioneer placekicker Nico Duarte (Kearny, NJ/Saint Peter's Prep) continued his perfect start to the season during the team's 58-13 win over Alfred State. The New Jersey native went 3-for-3 on field goals, hitting from distances of 38, 31, and 20 in the game. He was also 100% on PATs, nailing all seven of his point after's. Duarte improved to 11-for-11 on field goals, which is the most made field goals in Division III without a miss this season. Duarte capped off his excellent outing by booting two punts for an average of 46.5 yards, also pinning the opposing Pioneers inside their own 20-yard line on both occasions as he helped to set up some big defensive stops. This is Duarte's second weekly honor of the season. 

Duarte and the No. 22 Pioneers are back in action this weekend at home as the team takes on No. 17 Cortland to celebrate Homecoming and the First Source Federal Credit Union Teacher Appreciation Game. Kickoff on Saturday, October 3 from ABM Field at Gaetano Stadium is set for 1:00pm.
