UTICA, NY (11-7-11) - Junior Evan Chlanda of the nationally-ranked Utica College men’s hockey team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending  Nov.  7.

Chlanda, a 6-foot-4 forward from Islip, NY, totaled two goals and added one assist in a 1-1 weekend at the Aud for UC. He assisted on the only goal in the Pioneers’ 3-1 loss to nationally-ranked No. 6 Elmira College on Friday.  On Saturday, Chlanda netted two goals in UC’s convincing 7-1 victory over non-conference opponent St. Michael’s.

Chlanda is tied with sophomore Trever Hertz for the team lead with four goals and he also has one assist through four games this season.  He ranks second on the active scoring list with 45 points in 49 career games for UC.

The Pioneers are currently 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the ECAC West.  They return to action Friday as they host Westfield State in non-conference action at the Aud.  Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
