Sophomore Colleen Dowling of the Utica College field hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Dowling picked up a goal and two assists, and played a total of 145 minutes over two games as the Pioneers finished the week with a 1-1 record. Dowling had the only goal of the afternoon for UC as it fell to nationally-ranked No. 12 Skidmore on Wednesday by a 2-1 overtime final. Both losses this season for Utica have come to opponents ranked 20th or better at the time the game was played.

On Saturday, Dowling followed up Wednesday’s performance by assisting on two of Utica’s three first half goals as the Pioneers steamrolled Nazareth, 6-1.  She now has 10 points on three goals and four assists this season.

Utica returns to the field this Wednesday as it hosts Ithaca College in Empire 8 play at 4 p.m.
