Senior goalkeeper Anthony Caruso, of the Utica College men’s soccer team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Caruso totaled 10 saves, and allowed just one goal in 180 minutes of work as the Pioneers split the week with a record of 1-1. He tallied the program-best 17th shutout of his career on Tuesday as UC beat Morrisville, 2-0, and stopped four out of five shots on goal as UC fell to Houghton on Saturday, 1-0.

Caruso currently ranks third in the Empire 8 with a 1.07 goals against average and he is tied for second with three shut outs. He also ranks fourth in the conference with an average of 4.27 saves per contest.

The Pioneers (5-6, 2-0 Empire 8) return to the pitch on Wednesday as they face off against visiting Cazenovia at Charles A. Gaetano stadium. The match is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m.
