UTICA, NY (3-24-14) – Sophomore Alysa Russell, of the Utica College softball team, was named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week Monday after leading UC to a 5-2 record this past week at the DOT Richardson Spring Games in Clermont, FL.

Russell batted .454 over her last seven games after going hitless in three games to open up the season.  She went 10-for-22 during UC’s five wins with four multi-hit games.  On the season, she is currently leading the team with a batting average of .370 with team-best four runs scored, four stolen bases and a .393 on base percentage. She also has a .929 percentage in the field as the team’s everyday shortstop.

The Pioneers closed out their spring trip winning five-of-six and currently maintain a 5-4 overall mark.  UC is scheduled to face Skidmore College Wednesday in a pair set for 3:30 p.m. in Saratoga Springs, NY.
