Utica University Athletics

Utica, NY (September 22, 2014) – Senior forward Hannah Mackey of the Utica College field hockey team was named the College’s Female Athlete of the week on Monday.

Mackey totaled 11 points on five goals and one assist over the course of three games last week. She opened up the week with a goal and an assist in UC’s 4-0 win against Geneseo on Wednesday. Three days later she scored a hat trick as the Pioneers cruised to an 8-0 victory over Empire 8 opponent Elmira College. She followed that up with the opening goal just 3:46 into the contest as Utica upset No. 3 Skidmore College 4-1 on Sunday.

Mackey leads the Empire 8 Conference with 13 goals, 28 points, and four game-winning goals. She is currently fourth in the country with 1.86 goals per game and is first on the College’s all-time list with 147 career points.   

The Pioneers (6-1) will travel to Houghton College Saturday. The Empire 8 contest is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
