UTICA, NY -- Utica College men’s basketball senior forward Chris Jeffers was named the College’s male athlete of the week on Monday after a 2-1 week for the Pioneers on the hardwood.  

Jeffers average 13.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals over the course of three games last week.  He posted 11 points and five rebounds in a win over Hartwick on Tuesday.  He added 12 points, five rebounds and three steals in a win over Elmira Friday night. Jeffers also netted a team-high 16 points in the Pioneer’s 80-67 loss to visiting Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday.

Jeffers is currently 25 points away from joining the college’s 1,000 point club. He is ranked 10^th in the Empire 8 in rebounding with an average of 6.8 rebounds per game and he is also 11^th in the conference in free throw percentage (.730). He ranks fourth on the team with an average of 9.5 points per game. Jeffers also leads the team with 24 steals and is second with 40 assists. 

The Pioneers are currently 8-11 overall and 4-6 in conference. They return to action Friday evening on the road as they take on Ithaca College in Empire 8 Conference play at 8 p.m.
