UTICA, NY- Senior Owen Gillam of the Utica College men’s soccer team was named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week, Monday for his performance over the weekend.
 
Gillam scored the game-winning goal for the Pioneers in their 1-0 victory against Empire 8 Conference opponent Ithaca College. Gillam took advantage of a free kick opportunity from 30 yards out, with just under 25 minutes left in regulation, and shot a laser just under the cross bar for the game’s only goal. Gillam is now tied for second on the team with five points (two goals, one assist) on the season.
 
The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they travel to New Jersey to take on Stevens Institute of Technology. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
