Buffalo, N.Y. (11/6/2010) – Sophomore forward Meghan McMahon (Gardner, MA/St. Marks (MA)) netted the game-winner with 1:05 left in the contest to lift the Utica College women's hockey team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over host Buffalo State in ECAC Women's West Conference action Saturday night. Freshman goalie Jennifer Hamel (Ithaca, NY/Northwood School) stopped 24 shots to help the Pioneers complete the weekend sweep of Buffalo and improve to 3-0 on the year.

UC opened up a 1-0 lead early in the second period when Emily Russell (Marblehead, MA/National Sports Academy) netted her first collegiate goal off an assist from Brittany Dellechiaie (Leominster, MA/The Winchendon School) 4:29 into the second stanza. The Bengals answered on the power-play late in the second period to knot the score up at 1-1 with 21:13 to go in regulation.
Utica could not convert on two early power-play opportunities in the third period but McMahon finally lit the lamp at the 18:55 marker to close out the scoring on the day. Samantha Glockling (Carleton Place, ONT/Tilton School) and Vanessa Maines (Boxborough, MA/Boston Jr. Shamrocks) assisted on the game-winner.

The Pioneers return to action next Saturday for their home-opener against nationally-ranked No. 3 Rochester Institute of Technology. The puck is scheduled to drop at 4 p.m.
