Utica, N.Y. (12/4/2010) – Freshman forward Tori Charron netted the game-tying goal with five seconds left in regulation and went on to score the game-winner with five seconds to go in overtime to lift the Elmira College women's hockey team to a 4-3 victory over host Utica College in ECAC Women's West Conference play Saturday night.
The Pioneers (6-3, 5-3 ECAC West) battled from a 2-0 deficit to take the lead, 3-2, after freshman forward
Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) tallied her team best ninth goal of the season, on the power-play, with 1:59 to go in regulation.

Lynny Gonzales (Rochester, NY/New Hampton Prep) helped dig the Pioneers out of a 2-0 hole by netting two straight goals, one in the second period and one to open the third period, to knot the score at 2-2 with 18:56 to go in the game. Myers assisted on each of Gonzales's power-play tallies to give her a total of three points on the evening.
The visitors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 13:50 of the contest and seemed to have complete control of the game in the first period. Sophomore Amber Tirri and classmate Mary-Kate Gellerman scored the Soaring Eagles (6-2-1, 4-0-1) first two goals.

Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) stopped 33 shots between the pipes as the Pioneers were outshot 37-23 on the evening. All three of Utica's goals came on the power play as the Pioneers went 3-for-5 with an extra skater on the ice.

Darcy Hier (Centennial, CO/Colorado Selects) registered two assists and now has a team-best 12 this season, while assistant captain
Rebecca Heim (Westwood, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) and sophomore
Nicole Joslyn (Whitesboro, NY/Rochester Edge (NY)) each added an assist.
The Pioneers return to action Sunday as they face Elmira College for the second game of the conference double header. The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m. Elmira beat UC in both meetings last season, outscoring them 9-2.
