Utica, N.Y. (12/8/2010) – After falling behind 1-0 in the second period the Utica College women's hockey team netted three unanswered goals in the third period to earn a 3-1 victory over non conference rival Williams College Wednesday night. Junior goalie Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) stopped 42 shots, as the Pioneers
were outshot 43-24, to help Utica improve its record to 7-4 overall.

Senior's Tiffany Bichrest (Harpswell, ME/Hebron Academy), Becky Hiem and Lynny Gonzales (Rochester, NY/New Hampton Prep) each netted one third period goal to lift Utica. Bichrest opened the scoring for Utica 1:27 into the third when she tied the game at 1-1 with her second goal of the season. Senior Meagan Sudik (West Bend, WI/Wisconsin Wild) and freshman Meghan McMahon (Gardner, MA/St. Marks (MA)) each assisted on the game-tying goal.

Exactly six minutes later senior defender Becky Heim netted the eventual game-winner, on the power-play, to give the Pioneer's a 2-1 lead. Heim's third goal of the season was assisted by freshman standout Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) and senior Darcy Hier (Centennial, CO/Colorado Selects). Hier currently leads the team with 14 assists this season.

Gonzales, a senior captain, added an empty net insurance goal with just one second left to seal the two goal victory. Hier assisted on her line mates third goal in three games.

Utica returns for game two of a five game road trip on Friday night when it travels to Cortland State for an ECAC Women's West Conference contest.
