Oneonta, N.Y. (10/29/11) – The Utica College women's swim and dive program opened its 2011-12 season with a 155-91 loss at the hands of host Hartwick College Saturday. The host Hawks jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back as they secured the victory midway through the meet, giving them the ability to forfeit the final six women's events.
Freshman Rachel Wooden began her collegiate career with a second place finish in the women's 1-meter diving competition for UC. Wooden continues a long line of great divers for Utica as she posted a score of 179.35 to take home four team points for the Pioneers. Junior captain
Michelle Allen (Canton, MA/Canton) posted a time of 2:12.29 to take fourth place in the women's 200 yard freestyle and she also added a fourth place finish in the women's 100 free with a time of 1:00.03.
Freshman
Arianna Wise (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) posted a time of 6:45.35 in the women's 500 yard freestyle, while
Amy Dumary (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) added a time of 1:11.73 in the women's 100 yard butterfly. The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Allen, Wise, Katie Snyder and
Kelsey Givens (Barneveld, NY/Holland Patent) earned 11 points for Utica after posting a time of 1:53.82.
The Pioneers return to the pool on Nov. 4th for their home opener when they host William Smith in a non conference competition at 7 p.m.
