Neumann 5, Utica 1 - Box Score

Utica, NY - The Utica College women's hockey team lost to host Neumann University, 5-1, Saturday night. Junior MacKenzie Roy (Concord, NH/Cushing Academy) netted her fifth goal of the season for the Pioneers.

UC broke the ice at 6:26 in the opening period when Roy tallied the Pioneers only score of the contest. Utica's team-high point leaders, Darcy Hier (Centennial, CO/Colorado Selects) and Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects), registered the assists on the score.  The Knights tied the game with just under two minutes to play when Brittany Metcalfe netted an even strength goal off a dish from Lynsey Nakamura.

Neumann's Niki Blazenko converted the game-winning, power-play goal, at 16:39 in the second period for the home team. Blazenko's goal was the only score of the second period.

The Knights would secure the victory throughout the final period, scoring three more goals and capitalizing on four UC penalties.

Junior goalie Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) recorded 39 saves, however, dropped to 5-6 on the season.

The Pioneers return to action Sunday for game two of the weekend series against Neumann University.  The puck is scheduled to drop at 3 p.m. at the Ice Works Arena in Ashton, PA.
