Ashton, Pa. (2/6/2011) – The Utica College women's hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision at ECAC Women's West Conference rival Neumann University Sunday afternoon. After two full periods of scoreless play, Neumann's Niki Blazenko scored the game-winner with 5:05 left in regulation to propel the Knights to victory.

Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) stopped 25 shots in net for the Pioneers. It was a tight contest across the board with both teams totaling 26 shots and the two teams combining to go 0-for-11 on the power-play.
UC has now lost three straight conference games and dropped to 10-9 overall and 6-8 in conference play. Neumann is riding the highs of a five game unbeaten streak and improved to 12-6-3 overall and 9-6-1 in the ECAC West.
Jessica Schroeder and Diane Peters were credited with assists on the game-winning goal. Shannon Donnelly stopped all 26 shots she faced as she earned the shut out for the Knights.
The Pioneers return to the ice on Tuesday night when they host local rival Hamilton College at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. The non conference contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
