Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (3/16/2011) - The Utica College men's lacrosse team lost a heartbreaker, 6-3, to host
King's College in non conference play Wednesday afternoon. After jumping out to a quick to a 2-1 lead in the first quarter the Pioneers' offense went stagnant for 44:28, as the Monarchs netted five straight goals to secure the three goal victory.
Utica (1-2) returns home to the friendly confines of Charles A. Gaetano Stadium on Saturday when it hosts Vassar College for a non conference contest at 1 p.m.

Oliver Barney (Vestal, NY/Vestal) and sophomore
Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) each netted unassisted goals to guide Utica to its 2-1 first quarter lead. Senior
Michael Schepis (Watertown, NY/IHC) added the Pioneers' third and final goal of the contest, off an assist from Winkler, with five minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
Utica outshot the home team 36-33 on the day and the Pioneers' forced 25 turnovers but it was not enough as King's advanced its record to 2-3 on the year.
Barney went 9-of-13 in the face-off circle for Utica, while senior defender Matt Crouse added a game-high eight ground balls. Freshman

Mick Krajacic (Clay, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) and Winkler each tallied two caused turnovers. Duffy and sophomore
Justin Edelstein (Hartsdale, NY/Harvey School) each scooped up five ground balls.
Senior goalie
Joe Davis (Vestal, NY/Vestal) stopped 12 shots in net for the Pioneers, while his counterpart ,Kevin Conzola, made 16 saves in net for King's.
