Rochester, N.Y. (4/10/11) – The Utica College baseball snapped St. John Fisher's six game winning streak Sunday when the Pioneers downed the Cardinals 9-7 in game two of an Empire 8 Conference double header. The Pioneers posted 13 hits in the victory as they beat Fisher for the first time since 2007. UC lost game one 10-6.
Three players recorded two RBIs in the game two win, including sophomore

Alec Choleva (Coventry, CT/East Catholic) pitched six full innings, striking out four, in his first collegiate victory.
The Pioneers (2-17, 1-3 E8) posted six third inning runs and jumped out to a quick 8-1 lead in the top of
the third. Four out of the first five batters ripped singles in the third inning to spark the Pioneer rally. Podlucky capped the six run inning with a two-RBI double, scoring Sportman and Zapata, to give UC an early seven run lead.
The Cardinals clawed their way back into the contest with at least one run in each of the final five innings (two runs in the fifth). Freshman
Austin Williams (Clyde, NY/Clyde Savannah) closed the door for Utica, striking out one in his first collegiate save, to preserve the Pioneers' two run victory.
Senior third baseman
Anthony Di Salvo (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) went 2-for-3 with one run scored in game two, while
Adam Bittel (New Hartford, CT/Northwestern Region) and
Angel Zapata (Bronx, NY/Bronx Center for Science and Math) each recorded two hits. Sportman, Choleva and Zapata each added two runs scored for the Pioneers.
Bittel went 3-for-6 with one RBI and one run scored over the course of both contests, while Di Salvo finished the afternoon with three hits and three RBIs. Gonzalez also totaled three RBIs for UC.
After falling behind 10-0 in game one the Pioneers were able to mount a major comeback, scoring six seventh inning runs, but the rally proved to be too late as they lost by four.
The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday when they travel to local rival Hamilton College for the 24th annual Jackie Robinson Game. The contest is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
