PIONEERS SET TO TAKE ON HAMILTON COLLEGE IN THE 24TH ANNUAL JACKIE ROBINSON GAME

Utica, NY – The Utica College baseball team is set to travel to Clinton, NY on April 14th to take on cross-town rival, Hamilton College, in the 24th Annual Jackie Robinson Game.

The series between the two schools began in 1987 and the Pioneers hold a 13-10 all-time series advantage. Last year, pinch hitter Bryan Martinez-Torres hit a walk-off, two RBI, double in the bottom of the tenth inning to lift the Pioneers to an 11-10 victory. Senior captain Anthony Di Salvo (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) earned Most Valuable Player honors for Utica as he went 4-for-6 at the plate with two RBIs.

The Pioneers are 2-17 overall this season but are coming off a victory over conference rival, St. John Fisher College. Hamilton College has an overall record of 7-13 and is on a two-game win streak as the Continentals beat SUNY Cobleskill and College of Mount Saint Vincent last week.

Alec Choleva (Coventry, CT/East Catholic) leads the Pioneers with a batting average of .333. Not far behind him is last year's MVP, Anothony DiSalvo, batting .313. Chris Podlucky (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) is second on the team with 17 hits on the season.

Joe Buicko is currently leading the Continentals with a batting average of .351. Justin Atwood has 10 RBIs to go along with his two homeruns and Sam Choate leads Hamilton College in hits with 21.

The game will be held at Royce Field and is set to start at 3:30 p.m.
