Choleva leads UC with a .315 batting average
Utica, NY (4/20/2011)- The Utica College baseball team is set to host Empire 8 opponent Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23.

The Pioneers (2-19, 1-4) are looking to snap a two game losing streak and will need their hottest performers to take it to another level.

UC will rely on their top hitters Alec Choleva (Coventry, CT/East Catholic) (.315), Anthony DiSalvao (.314), and Adam Bittel (New Hartford, CT/Northwestern Region) (.298) to ignite the Pioneers offense against the Tigers (7-11,1-1). They will also need contributions from sophomore shortstop Christopher Podlucky, who is batting .261 and junior outfielder Ted Krueger (Franklinville, NY/Franklinville) (.238).

Utica will need to slow down a very powerful Tigers offense, which has eight players batting above .300 and three players batting above .400. Leading RIT's offense is junior outfielder Kreag Bradley, who is hitting .426 on the season. Another top hitter that the Pioneers will need to slow down is former Utica College catcher, Jonathan Meyer. Meyer is hitting .361 and leads the team in doubles with seven.

The game is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
