Utica, NY (4/25/11)- The Utica College men's lacrosse team looks to get back on the winning track as they prepare to host nationally ranked No.2 Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday, April 27 at 4 p.m.
The Pioneers (2-11, 0-6) hope to snap a five game losing streak and get their first Empire 8 Conference win, while attempting to break the Tigers (13-0, 6-0) school record 13-game win streak.
UC looks to slow down a high-powered Tigers offense led by junior Tyler Russell, who leads the team with 42 goals and is second with 45 points. Utica will also try to contain senior Jordan Macintosh, who has team-high 47 points and ranks second with 20 assists on the year.
The Pioneers will try to keep up with the Tigers in every facet of the game, and will need sophomore
Ben Winkler (Rodman, NY/IHC) to continue to lead them on the offensive end. Winkler leads the team with 16 goals and 22 points on the year. Junior
Mick Krajacic (Clay, NY/Cicero North Syracuse) looks to continue his great play on the defensive end for the Pioneers. Krajacic leads the team with 60 groundballs and 52 caused turnovers.
Utica hopes to end the year on a positive note, as they wrap up the year with two games left at the confines of Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The final game of the season will come on Saturday, April 30 against St. Johns Fisher at 1 p.m.
