Fisher 7, Utica 1 - Game Two Box Score

Rochester, N.Y. (4/9/11) – The Utica College baseball team could not get its bats going on Saturday afternoon as the Pioneers lost a pair of Empire 8 Conference games against host St. John Fisher College Saturday afternoon at Dugan Yard. The Pioneers trailed 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth in game one, but the Cardinals tacked on seven unanswered runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure an 11-0 victory. Fisher's Justin D'Amato pitched his first career no-hitter to pace the Cardinals.

The Pioneers (1-16, 0-2 E8) trailed 4-1 in the fourth inning of game two, but once again the Cardinals produced a late inning scoring effort, to earn a 7-1 victory. Five different Pioneers posted one hit in game two including Joe Sportman (Albany, NY/Bishop Maginn), Anthony Di Salvo (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville), Alec Choleva (Coventry, CT/East Catholic), Nick Dunbar (Granville, NY/Granville) and Elvis Gonzales. Choleva drove in Di Salvo in the top of the fourth inning to account for the lone run of the day for UC.

In game one, senior Chris Pallas (Rome, NY/Rome Catholic School) pitched a complete game on the mound for Utica, allowing just six earned runs, while striking out two. Matt Zitt (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) scattered seven hits over the course of 5.1 innings of work in game two for UC. He added one strike out and allowed five earned runs.

Fisher improved to 15-5 overall and 5-1 in E8 play after the pair of victories.
