Utica, NY (1-26-12) – The Utica College men and women swim and dive teams travel to Rochester, NY Saturday to challenge Empire 8 rival Nazareth College.
Competition Details: The meet will be held at the Shults Center on campus at Nazareth and the events are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
UC's Schedule & Results: The women are currently 3-6 on the season while the men are 2-6 … Both teams defeated Wells and Cazenovia, while losing to Hartwick, Saint Rose, Skidmore, RIT and Clarkson … The women also dropped a match against William Smith College.
Most Recent Meet: UC hosted a three-way meet Saturday with Clarkson and Cazenovia … The UC women beat Caz but lost to Clarkson, while the men's swim team were lost both competitions … Freshman
Amy Dumary (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) led the women with a victory in the 200 yard butterfly finishing with a time of 2:35.19 … For the men, freshman Anthony Farber took third place, respectively, in both events he participated in.
On the Board: Freshman diver
Sarah Cifonelli (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit), a Sauquoit, NY native, is continuing her strong first-year campaign on the one-meter board … Cifonelli won both events last weekend and now has three victories as a Pioneer… Along with her three wins, she has four second and six third place finishes.
The Golden Flyers: The Nazareth College women currently hold a 5-3 overall record, while the men are 1-6 on the season … The Golden Flyer women opened up the season with three consecutive victories before losing three out of five to Hartwick, Ithaca, and Rochester … The Nazareth men have lost five straight after tallying their only win of the season against St. Lawrence back on Oct. 29, 2011.
Return to the Pool: Following this meet, the Pioneers return to the pool next Saturday when they travel to Canton, NY to face St. Lawrence University … The competition is set to begin at 2 p.m. and will be held at the Augsbury Natatorium … The Saints men's team is currently 0-6, while the women hold a record of 5-1.
