Utica, NY (10/09/12)- The Utica College field hockey team faces a tough test, Wednesday as it hosts nationally-ranked No. 11 Skidmore College. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Last Time Out: Utica is coming off a 4-3 loss at Washington & Jefferson on Saturday… Sophomore
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) led UC with a goal and an assist, while classmates
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) and
Angela Charles (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) netted one goal apiece.

Steele-Norton on Fire: Sophomore
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) has been hot recently… She currently has a nine game goal-scoring streak and ranks sixth nationally in goals per game (1.55)… The Avondale, PA native has scored at least two goals in three of her last four games, and needs one more goal to tie the program's all-time single-season scoring record… For her efforts, she was recently named E8 Offensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Helping Out: Sophomores
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) and
Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) are tied for second in the conference with nine assists… Mackey is also second in the E8, behind Steele-Norton, with 27 points, and ranks fifth in the league in goals (nine)… Stojkovski is third on the team in points (17) and tied for third in goals (four).
Scouting Skidmore: The Thoroughbreds, currently ranked 11th in the nation, are coming off back-to-back 3-1 losses to the University of Rochester and William Smith College last weekend… Skidmore is led by junior, Kelly Blackhurst who has 19 goals and 12 assists on the season… Utica is 1-8 against the Thoroughbreds dating back to 2003…Last year the Pioneers fell 3-1 at Skidmore…
Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) had the lone goal for UC… The last time Utica beat Skidmore was a 2-1 win in 2004.
Looking Ahead: The Pioneers return to action Saturday as they host St. John Fisher College as part of the College's homecoming festivities… Game time will be at 11 a.m.
