Utica, NY (11/10/2012) – The Utica College women's hockey team lost to visiting and nationally-ranked No. 4 Elmira College for the second consecutive night on Saturday.  The Pioneers were able to knot the score at 1-1 late in the second period, but the Soaring Eagles pulled away in the final stanza to earn the 4-1 ECAC West Conference victory.

Elmira improved its overall record to 5-0-1, while the Pioneers (1-3) have now lost three in a row after starting the year with a victory over Oswego.  Junior Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) netted the lone goal of the evening for Utica with less than three minutes to go in the second period to tie the game up at 1-1.

The Soaring Eagles' third period surge was led by Ashton Hogan, Amber Tirri and Caitlin Metcalf, who each netted one goal to help lift the visitors to the ECAC West win. Metcalf finished the night with one goal and two assists to lead the way, while Brooke Wilgosh got Elmira on the board in the first period with her second goal of the young season.

Olivia Nystrom, Katie Gaskin and Cassidy Delainey each posted an assist for the Soaring Eagles.  Lauren Sullivan earned third star honors after stopping 19 shots in net for Elmira.  UC's Jennifer Hamel (Ithaca, NY/Northwood School) added 21 saves in her second loss of the year.

Utica returns to the ice back at the Utica Memorial Auditorium on Friday night when it hosts Cortland for a conference contest at 4 p.m.
