Hershey, Pa. – The Utica College golf team shot a combined 365 in the fourth round on its way to earning eighth place at the 2012 Empire 8 Conference Championships at the Hershey Country Club East Course on Sunday. Sophomore
Ethan Kreisel (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) shaved ten strokes off his score from Saturday and carded a team-best 85 for the Pioneers. Over the course of four rounds Kreisel posted a team-best 350 and earned a 29th place finish in the individual competition.
Kreisel's average round at the Empire 8 Championships this year was 87.5.
Junior
John Gaspa (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) shot a 92 on Sunday and wrapped up the tournament with a 31st place finish after posting a four round total of 360. Freshman
Christian Leogrande (New Hartford, NY/Notre Dame) came in 33rd overall with a total of 369. His best round of the tournament came back in the Fall when he shot an 84 on day two at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, N.Y.
After carding a 94 on Saturday, junior
Patrick Dundon (Utica, NY/Whitesboro) came back with a 100 on Sunday to earn 35th place overall (384).
Jamie Murphy (Canadaigua, NY/Marcus Whitman), who could not compete in the Fall portion of the tournament because his is a member of the Pioneers football program, carded a 93 on Sunday for Utica.
Adam Vella (Utica, NY /Notre Dame) finished the weekend with scores of 111 and 107.
UC returns to the course on Saturday when it travels to Monroe Country Club in Rochester, NY for its final match of the season at the Nazareth College Invitational.
