BSN 2012 Preseason All-Americans

Utica, N.Y. (6/26/2012) - Senior tight end Matt Dunn (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) of the Utica College football team was named to the 2012 Beyond Sports Network Preseason Division III All-American Team Monday.  Dunn is making his first appearance on a preseason All-American team and he was a second team selection.   He is just one of four tight ends in all of DIII football to garner first or second team status.  He is also one of just five players from the Empire 8 Conference to earn the prestigious honor. 

Dunn, who led all Empire 8 tight ends with 48 catches and 602 receiving yards last year, was a first team all-conference selection at the end of last season.  He was also a second team d3football.com all-region selection and a second team ECAC North All-Star.  

He heads into his final season at Utica as the program's most decorated tight end.  He now has 81 catches for 957 yards in three seasons and he also has eight touchdown catches, which are both program-records for tight ends, eclipsing the marks set by former all-conference first-team tight end Brian Barth '05.

Dunn and the Pioneers return to the field for training camp in mid-August and they are set to take the field for the first time on Sept. 1 when they host St. Lawrence University in their season-opener on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest is set to kick-off at 7 p.m.

The Pioneers finished their 2011 campaign with an overall record of 5-5, marking the second best win total in program history.
