Utica, N.Y. (8/22/2012) - Senior tight end Matt Dunn (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) of the Utica College football team was named to the 2012 “D3Senior Classic” Preseason All-American Football Team Sunday.  Dunn is making his second appearance on a preseason All-American team, but this time he was a first team selection on the North squad.   According to the D3Senior Classic selection committee, Dunn is the top senior tight end in all of Northern Division III football.   Over the summer Dunn was named to the was named to the 2012 Beyond Sports Network Preseason Division III All-American Team.

Dunn heads into his senior season as the most prolific tight end program history.  He currently has 81 catches for 957 yards in three seasons and he also has eight touchdown catches, which are both program-records for tight ends. 

Dunn, who led all Empire 8 tight ends with 48 catches and 602 yards receiving last year, was a first team all-conference selection at the end of last season.  He was also a second team d3football.com all-region selection and a second team ECAC North All-Star. 

Dunn and the Pioneers are in the midst of training camp and they are set to take the field for the first time on Sept. 1 when they host St. Lawrence University in their season-opener on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest is set to kick-off at 7 p.m. and it will be broadcast on television regionally on the Time Warner Cable Sports Network. 

The Pioneers finished their 2011 campaign with an overall record of 5-5, marking the second best win total in program history.
