Utica, NY (Sept. 12, 2012) – The honors continue to roll in for junior linebacker Joe Giametta (Seaford, NY/MacArthur) who was recently named the Metropolitan New York Football Writers Association (MNYFWA) Defense Player of the Week for Division III.  He was also named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Association (ECAC) Upstate Defensive Player of the Week. 

The MNYFWA honors players from Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.  The ECAC distinction covers upstate New York football.

He currently ranks sixth in the nation with an average of 15 tackles per game. He also forced one fumble, recovered a fumble and tallied a tackle for a loss on Saturday night against Union. Originally from Seaford, NY, the 5-foot-9 215 pound outside linebacker recorded 14 tackles in the Pioneers' 40-7 win over St. Lawrence in week one.  He has 30 total tackles this year (11 solo).

UC (2-0) returns home on Saturday night when it takes on nationally-ranked No. 14 Hobart College (2-0) in the final non-conference contest of the season for the Pioneers.  Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium.
