Utica, NY (9/24/12)- The Utica College field hockey team looks for its second straight conference win, Wednesday as it welcomes Elmira College to the friendly confines of Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Colleen Dowling (Fairport, NY/Fairport) all scored for Utica… Dowling's tally was her first collegiate goal.

Louise Steele-Norton (Avondale, PA/Millbrook School) leads the team and is tied for first in the conference with nine goals… She has scored seven goals in the last four games… She also leads the league with 41 shots on goal.
Helping Out: Eight different Pioneers have scored at least one goal on the season… Sophomore
Hannah Mackey (Locke, NY/Moravia Central) has a team-best 20 points on seven goals and six assists… Classmate
Alaina Stojkovski (Liverpool, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) has three goals and is second in the conference with seven assists… Junior
Jessica Franklin (Delevan, NY/Pioneer) and sophomores
Chasity Eckert (Afton, NY/Afton Central) and
Angela Charles (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) have each scored two goals, while Davendonis and Dowling each have one score.
Defense Shutting Down: The UC defense has been solid this season as it has allowed just 6.4 shots on goal and just 1.57 goals per game… It has also given up just five penalty corners per game and shutout opponents on two different occasions… Sophomore
Olivia Cunningham (Bethlehem, NH/Profile) leads the Empire 8 with a 1.61 goals against average.
Scouting Elmira: The Soaring Eagles are currently 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the E8… They are fresh off a 3-2 loss to Hartwick on Saturday… EC is led by junior McKenna Light, who has four goals and an assist on the year.
Against EC: The Pioneers are 6-3 against Elmira dating back to 2003… The Soaring Eagles handed Utica its lone conference loss last season, with a 1-0 overtime victory… The last time Utica beat Elmira was a 7-0 win on Oct. 23, 2010.
Looking Ahead: Following this, the Pioneers travel to Rochester, NY on Friday to take on the University of Rochester… Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
