Aston, PA (1/20/13)- For the second time in as many days, junior Megan Myers (Las Vegas, NV/LA Selects) tallied three points and the Utica College women's hockey defeated Neumann University, this time by a score of 4-1 Sunday afternoon at the Ice Works in Aston, PA.

The Pioneers opened the scoring at 10:39 of the first period as junior Kristen Beckman (Arnold, MD/Northwood School) netted her first goal of the season. Myers and sophomore Courtney May (Oxford, MI/Belle Tire) assisted on the tally.

At 7:29 of the second stanza, the Knights got on the board as junior Angela Gilmour put in her third tally of the season, assisted by Lynsey Nakamura and Keira St- Laurent.  Seven minutes later, Myers fed Carmen Johnson (Falls Church, VA/Washington Pride) for her fourth of the season to put UC back on top 2-1.  Junior Meredith Tice (Hershey, PA/Washington Pride) also assisted on the tally.

The Pioneers used two third period goals less than a minute apart to seal the victory.  First, Myers netted her team-best 11th score of the year at 13:49.  Tice and senior Mary Fusco (Enfield, CT/Salve Regina University) had the helpers on the play.  Then, just 45 seconds later, sophomores Nicole Kieffer (Rome, NY/Lysander Lightning) and Nicole Schwartz (Danville, CA/San Jose Sharks) set up freshman Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) for her fourth of the season.

Junior Jennifer Hamel (Ithaca, NY/Northwood School) stopped 17 of 18 shots while her counterpart, Shannon Donnelly had 35 saves.

The Pioneers (8-6-1, 6-3-1 ECAC West) return to action next weekend as they host Chatham University for an ECAC West Conference series.  Faceoff will be at 4 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.  Neumann (5-12-1, 3-7 ECAC West) will travel to Potsdam next weekend for a series against the Bears.
