Utica, NY (1-26-13) – The Utica College swim and dive teams were swept at home Saturday by Empire 8 foe Nazareth College at the UC Pool of Champions. Three Pioneers including senior
Scott Wanner, sophomore Anthony Farber and freshman Raphael Warnon won one event each to guide the men while sophomore
Amy Dumary (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) tallied 10 points in three events to pace the women.
The men lost 194-73 and fall to 3-6 while the women were downed 184-92 and are now 1-9 on the season. UC remains home for its final regular season meet Saturday, Feb. 2nd when it hosts St. Lawrence University. The events are set to start at 1 p.m. at the UC Pool.
Warnon won the 100 yard backstroke clocking a final time of 58.40. The first year standout also placed second in the 200 yard medley and third in the 200 yard backstroke with times of 2:10.09 and 2:06.41.
Wanner took first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.09 for nine points and then placed second in the 20 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:34.25, collecting four team points. He wrapped up his day with a fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly totaling 15 points on the day.
Farber was victorious in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.30 and swam to a second place finish with a time of 53.44 in the 100 yard.
Dumary took second in the 100 and 200 yard butterfly events recording times of 1:08.78 and 2:41.79 for eight of her 10 points. She also placed fifth in the 200 yard backstroke.
Senior
Michelle Allen (Canton, MA/Canton) collected seven points while placing second in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle events.
