Utica, NY (10/2/13)- The Utica College women's soccer team dropped its fourth straight Empire 8 contest as it fell to Hartwick College 3-0 Wednesday night under the lights at Gaetano Stadium. Freshman
Jamie Enders (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) made nine stops on the night.
Hartwick got on the board in the 6th minute as Allyson Daniels scored her fifth of the year, unassisted. Daniels' beat Enders but was denied by defender
Emily Lefebvre (Worthington, MA/Northfield Mount Hermon), who stepped in to block the shot. However, Daniels was able to slide the ball inside the left post before Enders or Lefebvre could recover.
The Hawks scored their second goal at 31:46 as Cami Cleaveland netted her fifth of the year. Enders was able to stop the initial shot by Rachel Mick, but the rebound popped out to Cleaveland, who put the ball into the open net. Hartwick capped off the scoring in the 81st minute as Cleaveland netted her second of the game, off a pass from Christina Sicari.
Alana Fitzpatrick (Cheshire, CT/Holy Cross),
Jenna Hughes (Brookfield, NY/Brookfield),
Deanna Didio (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and
Krystine Alvear (Ossining, NY/Ossining) each had one shot on goal for UC.
Hartwick improves to 4-3-3, while the Pioneers drop to 2-7-2. UC returns to action Saturday, Oct. 12 as it hosts Houghton College. Game time is set for 12 p.m.
