D3football.com All-East Region Team

UTICA, NY (December 10, 2013) – Utica College junior wide receiver Anthony Acevedo (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) was named to the D3football.com All-East Region Second Team released Monday night. 

Acevedo is making his first career appearance on the All-Region team after garnering Empire 8 Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors this past season. 

Acevedo recently made his second career appearance on the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team after finishing the regular season ranked 10th nationally and first in the Empire 8 with an average of 8.0 receptions per game. He was also 17th in the country and first in the Empire 8 with an average of 106.1 receiving yards per game.  He finished the season with 72 catches, 955 yards and six touchdowns. He caught 11 balls for 133 yards against Hobart (NCAA Qualifier) and he also caught 10 balls for 137 yards against Ithaca (E8 Champion, NCAA Qualifier). He added seven catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns against St. John Fisher (NCAA qualifier). Acevedo is now the College's all-time leader in career pass receiving yards with 2,484 and he is just ten receptions away from tying the school-record for receptions – he currently has 177 for his career.

Players who are first- or second-team all-conference or indepdents at full Division III members are eligible for nomination to the D3football.com All-Region Teams.

In 2013, 952 players were nominated, a new high.

All players nominated for All-Region teams are eligible for selection to the D3football.com All-America team in December. The All-America team is made up primarily of players named to the All-Region first or second teams.
