Box Score Plattsburgh, NY (2/3/13)- The Utica College women's hockey team had its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped Sunday afternoon as it fell to nationally ranked, No. 1 Plattsburgh State, 3-0.
After nearly 20 scoreless minutes, the Cardinals were finally able to put one in at 19:23 of the first period as Jenny Kistner netted a shorthanded goal, assisted by Chelsea Van Glahn.
The home team scored again just under six minutes into the second frame as Teal Gove netted her team-best 20th of the season, off assists from Shannon Stewart and Caitlin Gilligan. Plattsburgh scored again at 17:27 as Bridget Ballsy found the back of the net off a pass from Allison Era.
Both goalies shut the door for the final 20 minutes as the game ended with a 3-0 final.
Plattsburgh's Syndey Aveson stopped all 15 shots she faced to help Plattsburgh remain unbeaten and improve to 20-0-2 on the year. Utica's
Marissa Hotaling (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) made 25 saves as the Pioneers drop to 10-7-2 overall and 8-4-2 in the ECAC West Conference.
The Pioneers return to action Tuesday as the travel to nearby Clinton, NY for a match up against local rival, Hamilton College. Game time will be at 7 p.m.
