Utica, NY (1-14-14) – The Utica College men and women swim and dives teams prepare for its final home contest of the 2013-2014 season Saturday as it plays host to Clarkson University … The non-conference competition is set for 1 p.m. at the Utica College Pool.

The men's squad needs one win to post the most victories in a season under Coach Knight as they currently occupy a 4-4 overall mark … The four season victories came in a three-match sweep of Cazenovia and a convincing defeat over Wells at home … The women are 2-7 on the season… They currently have 10 student athletes on the roster and look forward to the return of senior

Utica was defeated by Alfred University this past Saturday afternoon in Empire 8 action at the McLane Athletic Center … The men lost 128-75 while the women fell 145-48 … Freshman
Mikey Maxwell (Newport, NY/West Canada) guided the women with two second place finishes in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly with times of 27.35 in the 50-yard free and 1:10.39 in the 100-yard butterfly … Sophomore standout Raphael Warnon paced the men with two second place tallies in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard medley posting final times of 57.49 and 2:09.74.
Getting to Know the Golden Knights
The Clarkson men are currently 2-1 overall while the women are winless at 0-3 in heads up competition so far… The Golden Knight men placed second out of eight teams at the Potsdam State Invite, sixth out of nine teams at the Liberty League Tournament hosted by Union and most recently fourth out of seven teams at the RPI Invitational … The women finished sixth of eight and ninth of ten at Potsdam and Union.
Wrap Up on the Road
The Pioneers will wrap up the regular season on the road against Nazareth College and St. Lawrence University … Following this weekend's home finale, UC will journey to Rochester, NY next Saturday Jan. 25th to square off against Naz in an E8 battle before heading to Canton, NY the following Saturday, Feb. 1st to face St. Lawrence University … Both matches are set to start at 1 p.m.
Championships on the Rise
The 2014 UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Conference Championships are scheduled for Wednesday Feb. 19th through Saturday Feb. 22nd and will be held in Ithaca, NY at the Ithaca College Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion … Last season, the men finished in 14th place overall with 160 points while the women placed 15th recording 138 total points.
